5 years later...

Today we celebrate my 5 year anniversary with dōTERRA. I can’t even begin to describe how grateful I am... but I will certainly try my best. dōTERRA pulled me out of the darkness in my life. In so many ways... dōTERRA saved me. Our family has been deeply touched by the impact of our essential oils and supplements, in ways that I am so grateful for. Our emotional health, physical health, family dynamic, marital relationship... all have been improved and supported by these little brown bottles.

Over the last 5 years, I have met so many kind hearts and beautiful souls. My community has grown from a few oil lovers, to a family of almost 1,000. As we share these gifts of the earth with others, we are making a difference in their quality of life. We are also making a global impact... David Stirling said this so beautifully,

“What I admire most about the people of dōTERRA is our love of others and our commitment to share and give back. We are you-centric. As a result of this outward mindset is that as we focus on others, we grow in power as a person. We discover who we really are, and who we can really become, as we lead, guide, and walk beside the people in our lives. In that process we also will find that our hearts are filled with a more satisfying joy as those people whom we have helped achieve their goals.”

This is the heart of dōTERRA, the heart of my business, and the heart of my mission in life. It has always been my hope and dream to create a positive impact in the world, and I am so grateful for our High Vibe Oils Tribe. In the last five years I have grown so much, and watched others as they rise, shine, and live a more vibrant and healthy lifestyle.

“You can go after your dreams, and still be the world’s greatest mom, all at the same time. We are teaching our children to chase their dreams.” -Emily Wright

If I have made a positive impact in your life in the last five years, (oily or not) I would love for you to share with me in the comments, and help me celebrate such a beautiful milestone in my life and business.

My 23andMe Results!

Blog-Post-Headers-February.png

Back in December I purchased two kits from 23andMe as a Christmas present for my Husband. We have been talking about ancestry and DNA forever, so I knew it would be the perfect gift to do something together, and learn more about ourselves, and each other. To begin with, the "extraction process" is super un-romantic, because you have to spit into a tube, over and over again until it reaches a certain line. It is quite entertaining though! We had a good laugh for sure!

We mailed off our samples right away and patiently (well, me... not so patiently) awaited our results. Brien got his back much sooner than I did, and we had fun learning all about his ancestry, and learning which family stories he was told were inaccurate. I grew up hearing from my family that I am

  • German

  • French

  • Irish

  • English

  • Scottish

  • Welsh

  • Romanian

  • Hungarian

  • Italian

This of course I walked through life understanding to be my heritage and Ancestry. My mother moved to the states from Germany when she was 18. My Great-Grandmother spoke Italian. All of this lead me to be super duper curious about what my DNA actually says, and what kinds of things are expressed through me! So.... here are the results from my DNA test from 23andMe!

Ancestry-Composition-23andMe-2018-02-24-12-59-24-1024x734.png

Honestly, it's really not too far off from what I grew up with from family stories! One of the things that surprised me the most was the Ashkenazi Jewish, and East Asian & Native American. I also opted to pay a little extra to see my carrier status and genetic health risks. I totally feel like the cost of these kits are worth it, even if it's just a fun little thing you do for your own knowledge!

For instance the chart below shows how many generations ago your most recent ancestor was for each population. This module uses your Ancestry Composition results to estimate the generation range where you are likely to have had a single relative who descended from a single population. These results may be helpful for learning about your genealogy, in figuring out from which ancestors a particular ancestry may have been inherited, or for piecing together the history of their likely migrations. This is mine!

Ancestry-Composition-23andMe-2018-02-24-13-00-08-1024x340.png

I also loved learning about my Maternal Haplogroup. I descend from a long line of women that can be traced back to eastern Africa over 150,000 years ago. These are the women of my maternal line, and my maternal haplogroup sheds light on their story. This group is I3.

As our ancestors ventured out of eastern Africa, they branched off in diverse groups that crossed and recrossed the globe over tens of thousands of years. Some of their migrations can be traced through haplogroups, families of lineages that descend from a common ancestor. Your maternal haplogroup can reveal the path followed by the women of your maternal line.

If every person living today could trace his or her maternal line back over thousands of generations, all of our lines would meet at a single woman who lived in eastern Africa between 150,000 and 200,000 years ago. Though she was one of perhaps thousands of women alive at the time, only the diverse branches of her haplogroup have survived to today. The story of your maternal line begins with her.

Maternal-Haplogroup-23andMe-2018-02-24-14-36-57.png

One of the really cool things I learned from this was that Haplogroup I may have been carried to Iceland by the Vikings! Some Icelanders also bear haplogroup I, a suggestion that their ancestry traces back to British and Irish women who were taken away from their homes by Viking raiders during the 9th and 10th centuries AD. But haplogroup I also appears to have been present in Scandinavia during the Viking era. Ancient DNA belonging to the haplogroup was extracted from skeletal remains at an early Christian cemetery in Denmark.

Today, haplogroup I is very rare in Denmark. But it is found at a level of about 4% in Finland and 2% in other parts of Scandinavia.

I am definitely pleased with the thoroughness of my results and the ability to connect with DNA relatives (some of my actual cousins did kits and also showed up!) and to learn so much more about myself. In a weird way, I feel more at home in my skin, knowing that certain hunches I had were correct, and that I can walk through life knowing where my family came from!

Are you excited to give it a try? Let me know!

My Dream Reading Space!

2.png

If you didn't hear... my hubby and I just bought our dream home, and we will be moving back to Colorado next month! Since I have been so excited about creating a home in our new place, pinning ideas like crazy, and overall just downright excited, I figured I would share some of the things I have been dreaming up lately! I absolutely love to read, and so I wanted to share what my dream reading space would look like! I'm still trying to figure out exactly where this will be, but I'm super thrilled to be sharing with you!

As a book lover and avid reader, I have dreamt of creating this perfect space, forerver! Of course there are little "must-haves" that I absolutely need in this space, like my crystals, a diffuser, my oils of course, snuggly blankets, cozy pillows, and a fantastic rug! Among those things are furniture too, and I've always struggled with deciding between a comfy couch or a little reading nook that is recessed into the wall.

In any case, in my quest for the perfect pieces online, I came across Arhaus! They have a variety of beautiful home decor, and I completely fell head over heels for some of their pieces!

One of the pieces I have really fallen in love with, is the Athens Library in French White. With its vintage silhouettes and artisan-applied finishes, our Athens collection will infuse your space with the ambiance and sophisticated charm of an old English library. It is so beautiful, and it totally reminds me of Disney's Beauty and the Beast when Belle goes to borrow her favorite book again!

Athens-Library-Arhaus-Furniture-2018-02-22-15-40-51.png-2018-02-22-15-55-44-768x770.png

When I was browsing around the Arhaus lighting collection, I found so many gorgeous pieces that I really just drooled over. The Vivienne Chandelier totally stole my heart with it's light, playful take on traditional chandelier designs, Vivienne strikes a delicate balance between a rustic iron frame and hand-painted wood beads. Isn't it absolutely breathtaking?

I also really fell in love with the coziness of some of their designs. When I read, I want to feel cozy, and completely immerse myself into the words on the pages. I found so many pieces that would fit perfectly into my dream reading space, and I cannot wait to get to work on that once we are all moved into our new home! Speaking of the new home... you can see a picture of it here!

Do you dream of a perfectly cozy reading space? What are your must haves?

2017 Year in Review

This last year has been transformational, and a huge blessing of manifestations for my family. I can only hope that your 2017 was equally as eye opening and transformational for you. I did want to share a little bit with you about some of the milestones and happenings in my household, so that you can celebrate along with me and my family! There were lots of sacrifices this year, but lots of celebrations too!

January

  • We made the decision that we no longer wanted to be victims in our finances are really hunkered down on paying off debt. This was not easy, and we were also going through some PTSD things as well! But... we kicked off the year with a bang nonetheless!

February

  • I got effing serious about my self care routine. With the mass amount of support and structure I needed to provide, I had to be sure I was taking care of myself too. I am so glad I made a serious habit out of this. It has served our family and whole community 10 fold.

March

  • We decided to forgo Leadership Retreat and pay off another card. Holy moly this was so hard! I was met with so much judgement fo this choice, but it ended up being exactly what my family needed, and we are stronger today for it!

April

  • Officially our second year in the Arizona Mountain home. Not our permanent home, but grateful to have had a roof over our head for the last 2 years! Grateful also to my parents for taking us on as tenants! Daen also turned 5 years old, and we had a party for him at the park!

May

  • Brien and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary on the 13th. I also celebrated my "Golden Birthday" by turning 30 on May 30th! ( can I get a whoop whoop!?)

June

  • The City of Show Low asked me to come back and educate people about essential oils at their annual health fair! This is always so much fun, and I love connecting with local peeps!

July

  • Daen had his last Tee-ball games of the year. We then got him all signed up for Soccer that started a couple weeks later! Soccer was so much fun and we loved seeing him practice and play!

August

  • Do you remember the Total Solar Eclipse!? We were down in Phoenix during the eclipse because Brien had an appointment with someone from the VA. We made a little mini vacay out of it by staying the night in a hotel, and it was a nice little getaway!

September

  • We opted not to physically attend convention this year, so that we could send more money away to pay off debt. I was still able to watch from home, and one of my blog posts about the new products was crazy popular!

October

  • My mom became a Silver leader in doTERRA! This was such a wonderful month for my entire oil community, but I was most excited to celebrate my mama's success! She is one of my closest friends, and a badass biz partner!

November

  • I was selected as Navopache Electric Co-Op Inc's "Business of the Month" and featured in the local newspaper! I was totally surprised and grateful for the recognition.

December

  • We paid off all of our outstanding debt! The only debt we still have is our Subaru, but that is almost paid off too! Whoohoo! (Debt free scream anyone?!) I also published Essential Goddess and celebrated the release of my first book!

And that my friend, is my 2017 year in review! I'm grateful for the obstacles and challenges that got me where I am today! Let me know what you hope to experience in 2018!

Happy New Year Oilers!

Christmas Traditions

Merry Christmas everyone! I'm so happy to besmearing some of my family's traditions with you today, as you celebrate with yours! Each year we have evolved our traditions as we haven't always lived in the same place. These last 2 Christmases have been super amazing as we have been able to go on the Polar Express!

Last Christmas, we rode the Polar Express in our Pajamas and Robes. We all matched and it was so much fun! On the train, you get to hear the story of the Polar Express, and you also get a chocolate chip cookie AND *hot hot hot* Hot chocolate! It was so much fun! The next day, we went to Bearizona, which was so cool, as they have a drive through zoo essentially. The predators just roam free and it is SO cool!  We also did a sleigh ride up in the snow once we were back home and that was so much fun! Here are some photos from last year:

We also do a Christmas puzzle every year. I love doing puzzles, and it is so much fun to work on something together as a family! Let em tell you, last year our puzzle was ridiculously difficult as the pieces weren't cut to regular jigsaw shapes! It took us forever but we finally finished it!

In addition to these fun traditions, we also watch Christmas movies, diffuse Holiday Joy, listen to Christmas music, and decorate the house. Most of our Christmas decor is Disney, but much of it is rustic too. I have these beautiful hand made ornaments that are crafted from straw. These are prized possessions of mine as they were gifted from family members in Germany.

I hope that you have a beautiful day today and remember that it's not important what is under the tree, it's important who is around the tree!

Merry Christmas Oilers!

Why are Essential Oils so Expensive?

doTERRA is committed to providing the purest, most potent essential oils possible. doTERRA employs a global network of farmers who knows intimately the process of growing plants for essential oils. Every doTERRA essential oil is put through the highest standard of rigorous and thorough testing and sets the bar for quality, purity, efficacy, and consistency.

Are oils expensive?

Essential Oils have always been part of my life. When I was an infant, my mother (who immigrated from Germany at the age of 18) had family send her some peppermint essential oil. Throughout my childhood, adolescence, and well into adulthood, I used Lavender, Peppermint, and Melaleuca. I used them primarily for Aromatic and Topical application. When I found doTERRA, I knew something was different... special... a class of it's own in quality. We (my husband, son, parents, extended family) have been using doTERRA oils exclusively since March of 2013, and it has been one of the most life changing decisions for us. I am so proud to be part of a company that cares so much for the wellbeing of everyone all over the world, including those that harvest and source our oils.

I am so grateful that we have such pure and potent essential oils, that are safe for all members of the family. Today I am excited to share a couple short videos with you and some fun science info, so that you can see why the purity of an essential oil matters so much. Before you dive in, think of it like this: If you went to Starbucks and ordered an Americano, you expect it to be strong and pure black coffee. If they instead served you up a hot cup of water with 1-2 drops of Americano coffee in it, do you think you would experience the same thing as that pure black coffee? I didn't think so.

The purity of an essential oil is its most important characteristic. An essential oil that isn’t pure means you run the risk of putting germs, heavy metals, or adulterants onto or into your body, which can provoke irritation, adverse effects, or even sickness. Without an accepted standard for essential oil quality, doTERRA created its own testing process, calling it CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. The CPTG process certifies that there are no added fillers, synthetic ingredients, or harmful contaminants in their essential oils that would reduce their efficacy. doTERRA even goes a step further, putting all their products and the packaging through a battery of tests to ensure a long and effective shelf-life. This protocol ensures potency, purity, and consistency batch to batch.

Before the CPTG® Process Begins

Proper methods of growing, harvesting, and distilling are also crucial to maintaining purity. Poor production practices and the development of synthetic essential oil variations suggest that it is impossible to accurately identify a pure essential oil without scientific analysis. Appropriate analysis of the constituents within an essential oil is one of the most challenging and detailed aspects of quality assurance.

Knowing which of the many different species of a given plant will provide the most profound therapeutic health benefits is the first step in producing the highest quality essential oil. Relying on the expertise of botanists, chemists and wellness practitioners, botanical materials are carefully selected for their natural concentrations of active aromatic compounds.

Nurturing plants in the most favorable environment and carefully harvesting and transporting plant material for processing ensures an optimal yield of pure and potent essential oils. Spanning the continents of the globe, doTERRA’s exclusive network of growers and harvesters are experts at cultivating plants specific to the essential oil industry.

The CPTG® Process

The CPTG testing begins immediately after distillation with each oil being reviewed for its chemical composition. A second round of testing is carried out at our production facility to ensure that what was distilled and tested is the same essential oil as was received. A third review of the chemistry of the oil is conducted in a three-phase procedure as the oils are packaged into the bottles we use as consumers. Each of these tests confirms that the essential oil is free of contaminants and unexpected alterations during production.

The CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade quality protocol includes the following tests:

  • Organoleptic testing

  • Microbial testing

  • Gas chromatography

  • Mass spectrometry

  • Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)

  • Chirality testing

  • Isotopic analysis

  • Heavy metal testing

Historically, gas chromatography was sufficient to identify individual components in an essential oil. However, as more sophisticated methods for developing synthetic essential oil products formed, further validation methods were needed. Over time, additional testing methods such as mass spectroscopy, chiral analysis, FTIR Scan, carbon isotope analysis and others have been developed to more accurately identify each individual essential oil constituent. Providing CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) essential oils is part of doTERRA's promise to you to give you the best the world has to offer. doTERRA is continuously creating new ways to provide the quality you deserve by focusing on the details.

When you purchase and use essential oils, you want to make sure you are putting the best quality product on your body, in your diffuser, and even in your body. I can't tell you how amazed I am, as a lifelong essential oil user, at how incredible the quality is of doTERRA's essential oils.

Mala Beads

Mala beads are one of my most treasured items. Over the years, I have had a few Malas in my life. Today I'm sharing with you all about my beautiful new mala, and other goodies I've added to my Spiritual medicine bag! Tons of juicy goodness in this post today, so sit back and enjoy!

This is my brand new mala. I have two others, one that broke, and one that I am allergic to. (Say what?!) Let's talk about that before we dig in. My allergy mala has gigantic sandalwood beads, that leave me with an itch rash on my neck that lasts for days. I cannot wear it. I found this to be so strange as I don't have any issues with Sandalwood Essential oil on my skin. I tried everything to get that mala to vibe with me, but ultimately I had to let go of it as a jewelry piece. When I purchased this new mala, I had the same fear that I would have a reaction... but since I was ordering from a new place, I figured I would chance it! When I got the package in the mail, i could instantly feel the positive energy infused into my new jewelry and I was seriously so in love, from he moment I opened it! I could tell how much love and care they put into packaging their products.

I did have some itching in the beginning, but I'm proud to say that I am not rushing or breaking out anymore and this mala LOVES me back! I even reached out to the company to see if they had any suggestions to remedy this allergy and they WORKED! Who is this magical mala company that rocked my world?

Mama Malas.

I will tell you, they have found a lifelong customer in me! From their mission, to their quality, and their customer service... I am absolutely a fan! Their mission blew me away: "Every mother deserves to feel radiant, adore her life and create her own path. Your Mama Malas take your desires and intentions and turn them into something tangible, touchable and real. Designed with healing stones, they cultivate a life of presence, intention and love.  A life led by your heart and not your head. For every Mama Mala sold, a Clean Delivery kit will be delivered to a mother in need," You can learn more about this on the Mama Malas website.

Mama Malas drops som serious info on what Mala Beads are, how to use them, and more. Check it out!

What are mala beads?

Traditionally made with 108 beads plus a large guru stone that represents the intentions and purpose of your mala. Mala beads are meditation necklaces used to recite an affirmation or mantra that can also be worn as jewellery that offers a tangible (and beautiful) reminder of your intentions.

Why are there 108 beads on a mala?

Each mala is made up of 108 +1 beads since it is said that our bodies contain 108 major physical and subtle energy channels that reach the heart chakra. By chanting or listening to  a mantra 108 times the energy from the mantra permeates both the physical and energetic body. The 109th bead, also called the ‘guru’ bead, signifies the beginning and end of your meditation practice.

Although they are referred to as 108 mala beads, each Mama Mala actually contains 108 Sandalwood or Rudraksha beads plus a gemstone guru stone and gemstone markers that divide the mala into two sections of 27 and one of 54 to allow for a shorter, but still balanced, meditation.

Why are your malas made with sandalwood and rudraksha?

Sandalwood has been used to make mala and prayer beads for hundreds of years due to it’s calming and soothing properties. We love it because of its distinctive scent that instantly calms your mind and brings you into a meditative state. Rudraksha beads are the dried and drilled seeds of the Rudraksha Tree. We love that a tree is contained within each tiny seed, representing unlimited growth, possibilities and an open heart.

How do I choose the right set of mala beads for me?

The best advice we can give for choosing the perfect Mama Mala for you is to go with your initial gut instinct. Oftentimes your heart knows what you need before your brain catches up, so even if the intention doesn’t make logical sense, if you are drawn to a particular mala it’s for a reason.

Go a little more in-depth about finding your perfect mala here. Or take a peek here to see which one calls to your heart.

Should I meditate with my Mama Malas?

Absolutely! While mala beads are beautiful accessories on their own we highly recommend giving mala meditation a try because we believe that meditation is the best way to stay present, intentional and calm during the ups and downs of motherhood. We have also found that mala beads offer the perfect distraction from the “monkey mind” that can make starting a meditation practice intimidating or challenging.

How do I meditate with mala beads?

To meditate with your Mama Malas, begin by setting an intention for what you want to cultivate in your life.  Starting with the first sandalwood or rudraksha bead to the right of your guru bead, repeat your chosen mantra once for each sandalwood or rudraksha bead on your mala until you come back around to your guru bead.  End the meditation at the guru bead by giving thanks to the teachers that have helped you along your path, and setting or reaffirming your intentions. You can also hold your mala during a silent meditation and let it absorb the peace of the practice.

I've heard about mala breakthroughs, what are they?

A mala breaking is considered a sign of karmic progression and is something to be fully celebrated. Gemstones have a way of releasing you when they are no longer useful, and a broken mala can symbolise lessons learned and new beginnings. It has done its work. After having a mala breakthrough it is recommended to sit and meditate on the original description and intentions of the mala and process any breakthroughs or progression. Learn more about mala breakthroughs here.

How do I cleanse my mala beads?

Because gemstones absorb and emit energy, it is important to cleanse them if they feel heavy or "off". How often you cleanse your mala will depend on how often you wear them, and the situations you encounter.

If you encounter a lot of negative energy, many people touch or wear your mala, or you deal with a lot of stress, it is a good idea to cleanse your mala. Think of cleansing your mala as hitting the reset button on the healing properties of your stones. You can cleanse your mala with moonlight, or by burning white sage, palo santo or sweet grass.

To cleanse your mala by moonlight  leave place them outside or in a windowsill to absorb the cleansing energy of the moon (full moons work best for recharging crystals).

To cleanse with sage or palo santo place your sage or palo santo onto a fireproof plate and light it. Blow gently on the flame to allow it to smoulder. Take your hand and waft the smoke around your mala beads with the intention of clearing any negative energy.

No matter which way you choose to cleanse your malas be sure to take the time to sit with them and set your intentions after cleansing.

Pretty sweet right? Mama Malas also carry bracelets, and I am in LOVE with mine! The bottom bracelet you see pictured was a free gift with my purchase, made of Howlite and Rose Quartz beads... called the "I am CALM" gemstone intention bracelet. The one on top, (closest to the blackberries) is the Manifesting Mama bracelet. This is made with the same beads in my Male necklace, minus the Sandalwood. it is Made of Quartz, Labradorite, and Mother of Pearl.

"Clear Quartz is the ultimate manifesting stone, storing the energy of your intentions and amplifying them out into the universe. Labradorite and Mother of Pearl assist you in moving forward without fear of insecurity, and heighten your intuition so you are able to see the signs along the way that will move you closer to your dreams."

You can probably see why I am so obsessed with and pleased with my purchase from Mama Malas. I grabbed the pieces I was most drawn to and the have brought so much more positivity into my life! Coupling my meditations with these Malas and my essential oils is my favorite thing ever!

My Personal Development Routine

Personal Development, Self Care, Mental Growth... whatever you want to call it, it is vital to growing as a person, and as a business owner. I'm going to share with you a little bit more about my morning routine, how I fit my personal development into it, and what I do. Be mindful that not every day looks exactly the same, and sometimes I do rise a little later when my body needs extra rest.

The first thing I do when my eyes are opening in the morning is say a little prayer of gratitude. I am so grateful that I get to open my eyes again, so I make a point to express that gratitude. Next I grab my phone. No... not to go on social media, but to listen to my affirmations. If you want to read more about that, you can dive deeper into my post about Letting go of Negativity. Sometimes I don't even leave the bed while I'm listening to my affirmations. My husband is usually still sound asleep next to me. This is when I put Balance on my feet, to start off my day feeling grounded. (I will share more about Balance below.) When I feel like I'm ready to move on to my next activity, I get up quietly and go into our Living Room.

Here I sit down and have my quiet time alone. Sometimes I am doing a personal development workbook, sometimes it's a spiritual or bible study, and sometimes it is reading an inspirational "Self-help" book. You gotta do what works for you. Regardless, I make a point to spend this time in the quiet so that I can really focus on the content. This is also the time when I do a short yoga flow, or workout routine, meditation, crystal time, or deep breathing. From here, I also put on the first oil that comes to mind, and read about it's emotional and wellness benefits. It's so fun to see what oil I am in need of that day.

All of these things fill up my cup, and allow me to be the best version of myself for my family, and for my oil community. More often than not, this is how I get inspired with new ideas, or courses to take so that I can provide even better content overall. I don't spend money on courses that I don't feel will benefit me or my community. There are some that I want to take, but don't feel like the timing is right to jump into yet. All the same, I do feel that getting training outside of our oil community can be wildly helpful for personal development. This isn't to say that this is all you need to do to grow your business, it is only a small piece of that puzzle. You can spend all the time in the world on personal development, which is awesome, but the growth in your business comes from application and of course, working with people!

Throughout my week, I have designated time for me to finish any courses I'm taking. This can be anything from a certification course, sales training, business webinar, or a specific book. I carve out time for it, so that I am being intentional about my personal development. It is so easy for me to pour myself into my business, and into my family, that I have had to learn I need to pour myself into ME as well!

I feel like I could go on and on about what books are awesome, or which courses I think rock, but ultimately, you need to do what you feel guided to do. After all, this is your business, and nobody knows you better than YOU! If you do want to see the courses I'm rocking, you can check them out at the bottom of my Biz Tips page. That being said, here is a little blurb about Balance and Whisper. You will see why I'm sharing about Whisper below.

Balance: Grounding Blend

doTERRA’s grounding blend, appropriately named doTERRA Balance, promotes tranquility while bringing harmony to the mind and body, and balance to the emotions.

  • Promotes a whole-body sense of relaxation
  • May help ease anxious feelings
  • Evokes feelings of tranquility and balance

Whisper: Women's Blend

With an aroma as soft and warm as its name, doTERRA Whisper Blend for Women creates a uniquely personal fragrance by combining each individual’s chemistry with a diverse blend of essential oils.

  • Combines with each individual’s chemistry to create a beautiful, unique, and personal fragrance
  • Provides a warming, musky aroma
  • Entices and intrigues the senses

The reason I'm sharing about Whisper, is because I use it in the evening while I listen to my Affirmations (yes, again!) and it really brings me to a space of gratitude. In the evening, I may spend some more time reading, or not, it all depends on how I feel. Sometimes I will do an evening meditation, if I feel like I need it, or EFT if I'm holding onto things that aren't serving me. I also have a diffuser on my nightstand, so I will just intuitively diffuse whatever I feel drawn to that evening.

That's it! I try to keep things simple with my routines, otherwise I will get very meticulous about them, and then that makes me anxious! Hopefully you have found some little clusters of value in this, and find a way to cultivate your own personal development routine!

Please let me know if you found this valuable!

Essential Oils and Crystals

Blog-Post-16.png

Alright peeps, I'm busting out the woo-woo and chatting about another beautiful aspect of my life, Crystals. I grew up a crystal lover and have some fun and exciting stories to share with you in this post! If you have read a little bit about me, you'd know that I've been using essential oils since I was born, as my mother is very natural minded. My mama also exposed me to the world of crystals, and I am so so glad that she did.

I have been working with crystals since I was a child, and it's so amazing to see how they have impacted my life in such a powerful way. My spiritual journey, has been touched so deeply by crystals and essential oils. I have so much gratitude for my mother, introducing me to the holistic world as soon as I arrived earthside!

I wanted to share some old photos with you today, so you can see some of the rad hippie-dippie things I did when I was a child.

I'm still looking for some photos of my earlier trips to Quartzite, AZ from my childhood. I have fond memories of going yearly with my family to look at crystals, and being able to choose some for myself that were special to me. One of my favorite trips, I think I was around 7 or 8 years old, we actually camped out at this hillside, and were able to dig for and pick up crystals off the ground! It was so much fun! After we found ones that we liked, I remember my mom, and grandma and I cleaned them up, and created pretty little scenes with Pewter sculptures. I still have one of them that we made with an Amethyst crystal, but the crystal was purchased and not harvested by us personally.

A few years ago, in 2012 to be exact, my family and I took a trip back to Quartzite. It was so awesome! My son has been naturally drawn to crystals every since he could grab them, and we certainly had a great time enjoying all the beautiful energy that Quartzite had to offer. I will be honest, it was overwhelming for me for most of the visit, as I'm extremely sensitive to these energies! However, we did leave with a few lovely pieces, and memories of course!

Crystals are part of our history, and have so much to offer. They aren't some new-age fad (although I do feel it's making quite the resurgence right now!). There are over 4,600 different types of stones, matrices, configurations, vibrations, and applications. I'm not going to dive into all 4,600, but I will share a few that I feel are incredibly supportive, especially when combined with essential oils.

If you're not 100% sold on Crystals holding, sustaining, or containing energy, let's spend time on a little sciencey stuff!

Piezoelectricity /piˌeɪzoʊˌilɛkˈtrɪsɪti/ is the electric charge that accumulates in certain solid materials (such as crystals, certain ceramics, and biological matter such as bone, DNA and various proteins)[1] in response to applied mechanical stress. (Wikipedia)

Did you know that crystals are included in computer circuiting, watches, and other devices for this reason? Everything is made up of energy. Essential oils, Crystals, plants, fruit, even you! I wanted to share a bit more about this, and I found that the best way is to share a quote from "The Secret". It helps explain energy from both a scientific and a spiritual standpoint. No matter what your perspective, it is super simple to understand.

From The Secret

Speaker: “Describe energy.”

Scientist: “Okay, it can never be created or destroyed; it always was; always has been; everything that ever existed always exists; it’s moving into form, through form, and out of form.”

Speaker: “What created the universe?”

Theologian:“God.”

Speaker: “Okay, describe God.”

Theologian: “Always was and always has been; never can be created or destroyed; all that ever was, always will be, always moving into form, through form, and out of form.”

Speaker: “You see, it’s the same description, just different terminology.”

You are eternal life; you’re source energy; you are God manifested in human form, made to perfection.

Scripturally, we could say we that we are the image and likeness of God; we could say we are another way that the universe is becoming conscious of itself; we could say that we are the infinite field of unfolding possibility; all of that would be true.

Crystals actually help to channel, focus and harness energy, when you are using them. Together with essential oils, you can feel and see incredible energetic results. As a Certified Crystal Reader, I'm so grateful to help support the body with crystals, in addition to Essential Oils. They complement each other so well!

Below we will look at the main Chakras or energy centers of the body, and which oils and crystals you can use together to support that energy center. Add oils and crystals of choice to a Roller Bottle with fractionated coconut oil, or apply oils to energy center, and hold selected crystal(s) while meditating. The essential oils can also be diffused while you do this. Use your intuition and let you body guide you in this process.

Tarnished Silver & Self Care

This morning, I took one of my old sorority rings out. It is a very simple silver ring with an engraving. I held it in my hand for a bit. Inspecting all the tarnish that covered it. Then I grabbed a microfiber cloth and began to polish it. After a couple minutes and some elbow grease, my ring was nice and shiny, catching the light and sparkling like new.

It got me thinking about the immense self-care I have been undergoing these last few months.

Self care is exactly like Silver. If you aren’t taking care of yourself, you tarnish. Tarnish comes from negativity. This negativity isn’t just self created, it can come from multiple areas in your life. People telling you that you can’t do something, co-workers, toxic friendships… all of those things create a filmy layer of tarnish in your life. What I realized, is that self care must be an on-going ritual. Personal growth is the microfiber that polishes away the tarnish. If you are regularly polishing your silver, it shines like the sun! The same goes for ourselves. If we want to shine, we need to hunker down and take care of us.

My mornings are spent in the quiet. Reading, Journaling, Meditation and Prayer get me in a positive head space where I can move forward through my day and shine like I am meant to. We all have the same potential. We all have the same opportunity to choose tarnish as well.

My choice… pick up the microfiber and get to work.

Phoenix Rising

It has taken me a while to hop back on here and write about personal stuff, well, mainly because my family has gone through so much this last year… and it finally caught up to me. As a mom, I do what I can to make sure everyone gets what they need. Of course, we all know that we can’t pour from an empty cup… and to be honest, my cup has been empty for a very long while. My husband tells me I’m a great wife, amazing mom, and incredible worker. I desperately want to believe him, but I’m consistently questioning my “enoughness”, or as the Mad Hatter would put it, my “muchness”.

Filling up my cup sometimes feels selfish. I question whether I deserve to be doing something relaxing or joyful, or if I should make myself busy with work, or other things. This blog is all about me being real with you and sharing my journey, and what it’s like for me to be a mom. I find myself more and more, taking time for and being grateful for little things, on a daily basis. Maybe it’s sitting in the quiet with a cup of tea or coffee. Maybe it’s breathing in the aroma of an essential oil. Maybe it is the text message from a friend that means more to me than they could ever know.

I like to internalize a lot of things. Call it my personality… INFJ… call it HFA, call it whatever you want. What I DO know is that I am a Phoenix. Ok, not literally. This of course is totally weird because I’m an Air sign (Gemini) and according to Pottermore my Patronus is a brown hare (also funny, as I am year of the rabbit) but… I digress. I am a Phoenix. I have been thrown a hundred different ways over the last 2 years and I’m completely BURNT OUT. Burnt out. I really truly mean it. I’m grateful for the help I have received, where I have had it, but I am not going to lie to you. Most everything I do, has been done solo. I don’t like that. I don’t want accolades for it. Sure it makes me proud to have done things on my own, but it certainly makes it more difficult that way.

What happens when a Phoenix burns out? They rise from the ashes and are reborn. That is exactly how I am feeling right now. Shedding old skins from the past, dusting the ashes off, and waking up to the newest version of myself. What does that mean for me in 2017? Will it happen all over again?

In short, yes. BUT, it will look much different. I feel things shifting for me internally, and feel like I’m looking at the world through new lenses.

I am not bringing relationships along with me that have felt inauthentic, or that have been taking advantage of me. I refuse to let that be part of my path in moving forward. I also made a promise to myself not to give too much of myself. I have had people tell me, “Oh, you just gotta be you! Put yourself out there!” when they don’t realize what I have been through. Even if I share a taste, a shred, even a splinter of part of me, and I get hurt… it crushes me.

Minimalism isn’t just about decluttering, or living with less things. It is also about creating an environment where you are thriving in every aspect of your life. If that means minimizing hurtful relationships, or not sharing all the deeply emotive parts of you… then that is what you gotta do, mama.

My current plans in moving to Colorado still stand… I’m just not sure when we will get there.

Clarity in Motion

Clarity comes in so many forms. I find that mine lately is coming from letting go of what is not serving me, in all aspects of my life. Including my business. I find myself going through certain motions, doing things that I “think” I’m supposed to be doing, that are no longer serving my community. In that place, it’s easy to take on feelings of judgment from others, even with a minimalist cleanse in your home, it’s easy to feel that way.

However, that is where the clarity comes in. The ability to see stories we are telling ourselves. The ability to see who is actually supportive of our endeavors. The ability to see which path we want to travel on. I wasn’t expecting this immense amount of clarity to seep into my life, like, at all. I’ve even taken a breath, and looked at my mothering… and how I’m showing up. Where I feel like I’m coming short. I realized that I’m giving my son absolutely everything that he needs, and that is my consistent love. It doesn’t matter how I manifest that for him. If it’s being present when he’s talking to me, or giving him cuddles when he needs them… I’m there. I don’t need to do all the things for him to grow up feeling loved, supported and happy.

I’m still a bit in awe of all this. The momentum I have right now in “clearing out” my space, is well… inspiring. But it is giving me even more momentum and energy in other areas of my life. It’s like I had been looking at my life through a smudged window, and now I can actually see through it clearly.

I wish this for you. I feel like I’m finally, truly able to embrace parts of my life for self care that often get pushed aside, because there is no time for them. There is time for them. There is space for them. There is space for me.
