Pets & Essential Oils

I'm an animal lover! Gosh, I can't count on one hand how many animals we have had. We even had chickens at one point! hahaha Oh man, that was a fun time! We don't currently have any furry friends living with us right now, but I'm sure many of you do! (edit: 8/25/18) We now have a Golden Retriever named Cooper and he is such a wonderful addition to our family! Today I'm going to share some recipes with you that you can use to help keep your pets in tip-top shape!

Before we get into the recipes, I really need to stress these points:

-animals are smaller, so DILUTING essential oil is very important

-AVOID using melaleuca for cats. PERIOD.

-animals prefer certain aromas just as humans do-- you can experiment with various oils to see how your pet responds to the aroma and benefit of the oil

-to help calm and relax a pet in distress, apply 2-3 drops of diluted lavender to ears and paws.

Ok! Now that we got that out of the way... here are the recipes.

-1/2 tsp of rubbing alcohol

-4 garlic oil capsules (find at your local health food or vitamin store)

-1 drop Cedarwood Essential Oil

-1 drop Lavender Essential Oil

-1 drop Lemon Essential Oil

-1 drop Thyme Essential Oil

Mix ingredients in a medium bowl. Soak pet collar in the mixture for 25-30 minutes. Lay out to dry, and place on animals neck. Repeat once or twice a month.

-1 cup water

-1 tbsp castile soap

-1 tsp vitamin E

-3 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

-2 drops Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

-2 drops Cleansing Blend Essential Oil

-1 drop Cedarwood Essential Oil

Place all ingredients in a glass jar and mix well. Applu a quarter sized amount to pet and scrub a dub dub! You may need to use a little more on a larger pet. Shampoo will be a bit watery, but your pet will be clean and smell great for days!

-25 drops Lemon Essential Oil

-4 cups Baking Soda

Combine in a large bowl. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of mixture onto kitty litter when cleaning box!
