Top 10 Tips to taking Care of Yourself

Your body is a temple and taking care of your body is crucial to vitality and longevity. Today I'm sharing 10 ways to support your body to maintain good health and promote overall well-being!

Hydrate.

Drinking enough water daily, is so critical and important. Not only will you be nourishing your body by hydrating adequately, but you will likely feel more vibrant and see a difference in your skin!

Greens.

Eating fresh, raw, greens every day gets those extra awesome nutrients in your body. Chlorophyll up that belly and welcome the new found energy into your lifestyle!

Morning Routine.

Establish a morning routine, or daily ritual where you can practice self care. Whether you are drinking a cup of tea, or writing a few things down in a gratitude journal, start your day off in a way that lights you up inside!

Essential Oils.

You know your body best, and supporting your emotions and body systems with essential oils is a fantastic way to feel good, promote positive feelings, and increase your energy.

Nature.

Get outside and explore. Whether you go on a walk, run, hike, biking, or what have you, getting outdoors and into the world helps fill up your cup. The elements have a way of showing us the bigger picture.

Move it.

Provided that your health care practitioner feels that it is safe for you, moving your body is a wonderful way to take care of yourself. Yoga, pilates, marathon training, crossfit, whatever you choose to do, keep moving!

Rest.

Again, you know your body best, and you KNOW that you need to rest. If you are constantly stressed out all the time, you aren't taking time to rest and recharge. Stop the glorification of being BUSY and rest.

Talk.

Talk to your loved ones, your friends, family, your tribe! Sharing about our lives with those that we love is so so important. If you are going through a hard time and you need help, no one will know unless you talk about it.

Play.

Did someone say Joy list? Play is critical for us at every age. Try to do something from your Joy list every single day. Make your happiness a priority and write it down in your planner. Love to paint? Paint! Love to sing karaoke? Sing! Just do it!

Quit Perfectionism.

Lining your duckies in a row doesn't serve you or what you are trying to achieve. Have a plan, and set to to do things, but KNOW that it doesn't have to look a certain way. Perfection is a fable that we need to stop telling ourselves at bedtime.

Soccer Mom Must-Haves

Nothing like 8am Soccer! I always take a handful of dōTERRA products with me, along with some band-aids, because you never know what's going to go down in 6U Soccer! We get up early on Saturday mornings, and head out the door for Daen's AYSO games! This morning it was chilly, and I'm so glad I brought a blanket with us!

I shared a little bit about this today on my social media channels, but I wanted to elaborate deeper on the products I shared! Below, you can see the top 5 products I bring with me to Soccer games, why I think they are so awesome, and how I use them.

TerraShield Deep Blue Rub Frankincense Correct-X Peace TerraShield

Perfect to keep the buggies at bay. It's rained so much where we live, and I don't want my little dude covered in bugs! When it comes to outdoor protection, there is no better defense than Mother Nature’s offerings. Either before we leave to the game, or right when we get there, I have Daen stand with his arms out and legs apart, and spray him all over. Then I have him turn around and I spray the back!

Deep Blue Rub

I bring it with me but it's mostly for after games to make sure my little man's legs aren't cramped. Deep Blue Rub is super easy to apply and is perfect for sore muscles after a good game, and also for stiff joints beforehand! I take about a pea-sized amount on my finger and then massage it into my son's shin and calf muscles. If you'd rather use the Touch Roller, that is also a great option!

Frankincense

My go to Roller for all things, and my emergency oil! When in doubt get the Frankincense out! Not only is Frankincense super versatile, but it's wonderful for little bumps, bruises, scrapes, and owies too. I love taking my Frankincense Touch roller because it is already diluted for me, and I can simply just roll it on the area in question, or put on my finger if it's a scrape.

Correct-X

God forbid someone gets a boo-boo, this salve is a savior! It's got amazing oils in it and goes on like an ointment! I like using the Frankincense Touch on scrapes first, and then I apply a light layer of the Correct-X ointment to keep dirt, and other yucky things from getting in. This is a product I carry with me in my purse, along with bandaids, just in case!

Peace

My son's emo kid blend. Yes, he is 5, and his emotions are as big as mine! I bring this with me in case he gets upset, discouraged or starts acting like a stinker! In fact, I always keep this roller blend in my purse or in my pocket. It is my current favorite oil blend and I love what it does to help calm my mood when I'm feeling anxious. That way, I'm not acting like a little stinker too!

Of course, I had to share a pic of my little guy in his Soccer uniform. There is just something so sweet and adorable about this age! We love watching him run around, kicking the ball, and trying his best.

Sometimes it's super funny to see these little 5 year olds all over the place, or forgetting which goal they are supposed to run to. You can't help but giggle!

I'm so so grateful to have my little arsenal of awesomeness with me! Being able to take care of my little guy, no matter what or where, helps me to feel empowered as a mama. Seriously, no idea how I'd live without dōTERRA!

Cedarwood

Today we will be spotlighting Cedarwood essential oil. This oil has a warm, woodsy scent that promotes a relaxing environment when used topically or aromatically. I like to use a few drops of Cedarwood on a felt pad in my closet to ward off bugs or to freshen up my Cedarwood hangers and shoe trees. Cedarwood is especially effective to keep moths at bay. If you haven’t had a chance to use this oil, dōTERRA has provided many different ways to use this oil on their Uses and Benefits page or in this image below!

Have you tried dōTERRA Cedarwood oil yet? Often referred to as Cedar oil, this essential oil is both unique and useful. With a warm, woody aroma, Cedarwood oil possesses cleansing and soothing properties that make it useful for promoting healthy-looking skin, soothing the mind and body, cleaning around the house, or promoting a calm environment in any room. Cedarwood is also extremely useful for repelling insects both inside and outside.

I love incorporating Cedarwood into my diffuser blends because of oils warm, inviting scent. I often mix Cedarwood oil with other warm oils like Cinnamon and Sandalwood. It also blends well with floral oils like Patchouli and Jasmine, or citrus oils like Bergamot and Lime. Here are two of my favorite Cedarwood essential oil diffuser blends:

Alpine Awakening diffuser blend 2 drops Bergamot oil 1 drop Cedarwood oil 2 drops Wintergreen oil

California Coast diffuser blend 2 drops Frankincense oil 2 drops Cedarwood oil 1 drop Rosemary oil 2 drops Wild Orange oil

TerraShield

This week I'm spotlighting one of our more popular oils blends for spring and summer, TerraShield! I have to admit, I am in love with this blend because I am NOT in love with creep crawly bugs that come with warmer weather!

When it comes to outdoor protection, there is no better defense than Mother Nature’s offerings.Among these are essential oils which provide a vapor barrier for plants, protecting them from potential threats in their environment. TerraShield Outdoor Blend contains powerful essential oils and other plant oils known to provide outdoor protection in a natural, safe way.

TerraShield is my family’s favorite blend for the summer. We spend a lot of time outside and this is the magic that wards off any insects that want to join our summer festivities. This oil is safe for everyone in your family and can even help your garden flourish by giving it a protective barrier.

TerraShield has recently been updated to include Tamanu oil which not only provided extra benefits for your use but is positively impacting families in Madagascar through dōTERRA’s Cō-Impact Sourcing. This blend can be diffused or applied topically using the TerraShield Spray to provide a defense against the annoyances of outdoor activities. Arborvitae

Arborvitae, is an incredible oil! It is very grounding and is known as the "Tree of Life". It is native to Canada and has a zero waste process in it's extraction process. There are many ways to utilize this oil in your home! With natural preservation properties, essential oil from the native Canadian Arborvitae tree acts as a powerful cleansing and purifying agent, while providing a warm, earthy aroma.

From a scientific standpoint, Arborvitae is concentrated in tropolones, such as hinokitiol, which are a group of chemical compounds that protect against environmental and seasonal threats and have powerful purifying properties. These compounds also contribute to Arborvitae’s natural insect repellent properties. Thujic acid, another tropolone found in Arborvitae, has been studied for its ability to protect against common threats in the environment. Because of its natural preserving properties, Arborvitae prevents wood from rotting, which makes it popular in woodcraft and for preserving natural wood surfaces.

When using arborvitae to address your emotions, arborvitae will help to promote peaceful feelings of feeling grounded, and allowing you to relax. Let's take a look at some of the wonderful things Arborvitae has to offer you.

Lavender

Last weekend, my family and I drove to a ranch in the middle of the mountains out here, and visited their Lavender festival! We had so much fun walking around the fields, smelling all of the lovely flowers and taking in the aroma. Of course... I was snapping photos like a mad woman. We enjoyed every moment and it really was a great family outing. If you have the chance to go to a lavender festival near you, definitely DO!

Most of us have experienced lavender in one way or another. In our home we use doTERRA, and it is amaaaaazing! In any case, lavender is one of my personal favorite oils and I will tell you why! Lavender has been used and cherished for centuries for its unmistakable aroma and myriad benefits. In ancient times, the Egyptians and Romans used Lavender for bathing, relaxation, cooking, and as a perfume; it is widely used for its calming and relaxing qualities which continue to be Lavender’s most notable qualities. Lavender is frequently used to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections. Add to bath water to soak away stress or apply to the temples and the back of the neck. Add a few drops of Lavender to pillows, bedding, or bottoms of feet to promote a restful night’s sleep. Due to Lavender’s versatile properties, it is considered the must-have oil to have on hand at all times.

Lavender is great for so many things and supports the body in multiple ways, especially when it comes to emotions, and helps support better communication with others, and bringing out your voice. Here are some of the main ways to use lavender:

LAVENDER

• Soothes occasional skin irritations

•Taken internally, Lavender reduces anxious feeling and promotes peaceful sleep

•Helps ease feelings of tension.

• Add a few drops of Lavender to pillows, bedding, or bottoms of feet at bedtime.

•Keep a bottle of Lavender on hand to soothe occasional skin irritations.

•Freshen your linen closet, mattress, car, or the air by combining Lavender with water in a spray bottle.

•Take internally to reduce anxious feelings.

•Use in cooking to soften citrus flavors and add a flavorful twist to marinades, baked goods, and desserts.

So you can see, there are SO many ways to use this amazing essential oil, and it is a staple in our home. I actually have the lavender touch roller on my nightstand, and before bedtime, I roll it on my neck and feet to promote a restful slumber. It is so simple and I love being able to just roll it on my feet.

Essential Family Fun!

What better time, than family time? With summer days and travel among us these next couple months, many of us will be surrounding ourselves with family members! I wanted to share just a couple little oily tips from my family to yours, about how we like to use our oils when we are going out for a day of fun! Let's be honest, there are a BUNCH of essential oils you could bring along with you for a day of fun, but less is more right? (Especially when you are applying! haha) Take a look what stays in my bag or backpack when we go on an adventure!

ON GUARD

I like to put a drop of this on each of our feet to help support our immune systems, being around so many other bodies. I also have a small spray bottle, for our hands for this same reason. This blend also protects against environmental threats and purifies the skin while promoting healthy circulation. On Guard also:

• Supports healthy immune function

• Cleans surfaces

• Energizing, uplifting aroma

LAVENDER

I bring this with me everytime we leave the house, because my son asks for it by name. This oil is soothing for him when he is upset, and calms his emotions when he gets an owie. Lavender is widely used for its calming and relaxing qualities and it also soothes occasional skin irritations. Lavender also:

• Helps skin recover quickly

• Eases muscle tension

BALANCE

That Crazy Oil Husband is a big fan of this blend. Not only does it have a wonderfully soothing aroma, but it also helps support our emotions, when we are feeling scattered or overwhelmed. This blend brings harmony to the mind and body and also soothes sore muscles and joints. The Grounding Blend also:

• Creates a sense of calm and well-being

• Promotes whole-body relaxation

•Evokes feelings of tranquility and balance

• Promotes circulation

• Supports cellular health and overall well-being

• Lessens stress and helps with anxious feelings and nerves

LEMON

I bring lemon with me everywhere. I love putting it in my water. When we go out to eat, I put it in my water. If we are out and about for the day, say at the Zoo, I put it in my stainless or glass waterbottle, and bring my oil with me for my refill once I've finished that! Lemon naturally cleanses the body and aids in digestion, and promotes a positive mood and cognitive ability. Lemon also:

• Cleanses and purifies the air and surfaces

• Supports healthy respiratory function

• Helps ward off free radicals with its antioxidant benefits

• Soothes an irritated throat

FRANKINCENSE

We love frankincense. Wherever we go, we bring good ol' Frank along with us. He's a big part of the family! Frankincense helps us build and maintain a healthy immune system and it promotes feelings of peace, relaxation, satisfaction, and overall wellness. Frankincense also:

• Promotes cellular health

• Reduces the appearance of blemishes and rejuvenates skin

• Supports healthy immune system function

TERRASHIELD

If we are going on a hike, or anywhere remotely green (which is almost always) I definitely bring the repellent blend with me. Because this blend has oils in it that bugs aren't a fan of, it makes a great addition in your mini arsenal! The Repellent Blend also:

• Acts as an effective, natural repellent

• Helps ward off insects

I do bring other oils with me on occasion, but these come with us everywhere! Whether we are making a quick trip to the grocery store, playing around at the park, or heading out for a full day of fun at the zoo, I make sure my family has what they need to support their bodies!

Arizona has Mountains

I’m up in the mountains of Arizona (they really do exist!) with my son and my parents. Today was a fun day, as we went on a little hike, went by the lake and really enjoyed each others company.

I even got to try a tasty chai latte from the local coffee house! It was definitely what I needed to wind down after such a crazy trip. Flying to CA with Daen wasn’t awful, he only had a couple moments of toddlerness. Driving in a truck with him and my parents for 8+ hours was a bit of a chore, but we made it work! He had some fun activities and an iPad… (yeah, I’m “that mom”) and he did ok.

I have more to share, but the service up here is not so great right now, and I need to prep for our flight tomorrow from Phoenix back to Denver!
