Essential Goddess

Most of you may know that I love to write, and many of you don't. Some of you know that I use essential oils, that I'm a bit of a hippie, and that I'm obsessed with self care, all things woo, and personal development.

I was recently inspired to create and write a workbook "Essential Goddess" that helps women discover more of who they are, give them a safe space to journal while they experience the powerful benefits of essential oils, and their spirituality. Check out the book trailer below to take a peek at what Essential Goddess is all about!

This dream recently came to life and my book is available on Amazon TODAY! I'm so grateful to my community for their inspiration in this project, to my family, and to the countless friends who cheered me on in this process. I especially want to thank my parents, Daren and Martina, my husband Brien and son Daen, Crystal Schwanke, and the entire oil community. Without you, this would never have been possible!

It's funny, because this is not my first book or project I have written, but in my heart I knew that this needed to be the first one to see the light. This workbook has awakened parts of me that I thought were long lost in the past, and has inspired me to continue writing. I also wanted to give a special thanks to Kathrin for her encouragement, motivation and her playlist! lol

I hope that you enjoyed this Book Trailer, and get a glimpse of what "Essential Goddess" is about. Available TODAY on Amazon!

Cultivating Gratitude

It seems every November there is some sort of challenge to help in cultivating more gratitude in your life! We focus on loved ones, and feel positive about all that we already have in our lives. I'm always happy to see people sharing what they are grateful for! Today, I am going to share a special essential oil that can support you in cultivating more gratitude, and that is Spikenard. I will also share about a few other oils, but Spikenard will be the focus!

Spikenard essential oil is considered the oil of gratitude, which is why it would be the one you want to use! It can help you let go of and release resistance, anger, victim mentality, selfishness, greed, and "murphy's law". You can use this oil regularly in your meditation practice, or while you are journaling a gratitude list. You can also apply it diluted to the solar plexus chakra center or use together with Tiger's Eye crystal. If the aroma of Spikenard isn't for you, try combining it with Clove, Cypress, Frankincense, Geranium, Juniper Berry, Lavender, Myrrh, Wild Orange, Rose, and Vetiver to create a personalized fragrance. These oils, while not specifically oils for Gratitude, pair well with Spikenard.

Here are other oils that can help to Cultivate Gratitude:

  • Wild Orange
  • Helichrysum
  • PastTense
  • Douglas Fir
  • Lime

You can use these in conjunction with Spikenard by diffusing, or adding in a roller bottle. I love writing down 5 things that I'm grateful for in my journal, both in the morning and in the evening. One of the beautiful things about gratitude is how it works with bringing about more to be grateful for. If you are focusing on what you already have, and expressing thanks and gratitude for it, you will see more of that in your life!

Share with me in the comments 3 things you are grateful for today!

Essential Oils for Abundance

Call more abundance into your life with Essential Oils! If you're already working with the Law of Attraction, you are going to love what I have to share with you today! Get your diffusers and roller bottles ready, because you don't want to miss out on these high vibe oils and what they have to offer you!

When it comes to bringing more abundance into your life, affirmations, meditations, hypnosis, and focused manifestation can only be enhanced with the use of essential oils. Below you will find a list of the oils that can support you in drawing in more abundance. I encourage you to smell all of them, and create a blend using the oils that smell most pleasant to you. Use at least 3 drops each of 3 of the oils. The number 3 in itself is a magical number and powerful for manifestation.

Essential Oils for Abundance

  • Frankincense: Helps to become spiritually open, shields the body from negativity, and encourages connectivity.

  • Wild Orange: Helps to let go of the scarcity mindset, inspires solutions to issues, and promotes the true meaning of abundance.

  • Myrrh: Helps to feel safe and secure, nurturing to the soul, and establishes healthy attachments with others.

  • Patchouli: Helps to feel at peace in the present, let go of body tension, and promotes feelings of confidence.

  • Clove: Helps to release old patterns, let go of the victim mentality, and helps to promote clear boundaries.

  • Ginger: Helps to become present in the moment, promotes commitment to a goal, and empowers to take responsibility.

  • Cinnamon: Helps to let go of the fear of rejections, release shame, and promotes body acceptance.

My choice blend here would be combining 3 drops of Wild Orange, 3 drops of Frankincense, and 3 drops of Ginger, added to a 5 mL roller bottle with a Cinnabar crystal (to promote abundance) and a Quartz crystal point (to amplify the Cinnabar and the oils) and fill to the top with fractionated coconut oil. Apply to the back of the neck, wrists, bottoms of the feet (root chakra), and either the solar-plexus chakra center (just above the navel) or the sacral chakra center (just below the navel), in the morning and in the evening. Use this blend while you are practicing affirmations, meditating and calling abundance into your life, or while you are working. You can also create a diffuser blend with these oils to help inspire you throughout the day.

Are you excited to call more abundance into your life? Let me know in the comments below, and tell me how you blended these oils together!

Mala Beads

Mala beads are one of my most treasured items. Over the years, I have had a few Malas in my life. Today I'm sharing with you all about my beautiful new mala, and other goodies I've added to my Spiritual medicine bag! Tons of juicy goodness in this post today, so sit back and enjoy!

This is my brand new mala. I have two others, one that broke, and one that I am allergic to. (Say what?!) Let's talk about that before we dig in. My allergy mala has gigantic sandalwood beads, that leave me with an itch rash on my neck that lasts for days. I cannot wear it. I found this to be so strange as I don't have any issues with Sandalwood Essential oil on my skin. I tried everything to get that mala to vibe with me, but ultimately I had to let go of it as a jewelry piece. When I purchased this new mala, I had the same fear that I would have a reaction... but since I was ordering from a new place, I figured I would chance it! When I got the package in the mail, i could instantly feel the positive energy infused into my new jewelry and I was seriously so in love, from he moment I opened it! I could tell how much love and care they put into packaging their products.

I did have some itching in the beginning, but I'm proud to say that I am not rushing or breaking out anymore and this mala LOVES me back! I even reached out to the company to see if they had any suggestions to remedy this allergy and they WORKED! Who is this magical mala company that rocked my world?

Mama Malas.

I will tell you, they have found a lifelong customer in me! From their mission, to their quality, and their customer service... I am absolutely a fan! Their mission blew me away: "Every mother deserves to feel radiant, adore her life and create her own path. Your Mama Malas take your desires and intentions and turn them into something tangible, touchable and real. Designed with healing stones, they cultivate a life of presence, intention and love.  A life led by your heart and not your head. For every Mama Mala sold, a Clean Delivery kit will be delivered to a mother in need," You can learn more about this on the Mama Malas website.

Mama Malas drops som serious info on what Mala Beads are, how to use them, and more. Check it out!

What are mala beads?

Traditionally made with 108 beads plus a large guru stone that represents the intentions and purpose of your mala. Mala beads are meditation necklaces used to recite an affirmation or mantra that can also be worn as jewellery that offers a tangible (and beautiful) reminder of your intentions.

Why are there 108 beads on a mala?

Each mala is made up of 108 +1 beads since it is said that our bodies contain 108 major physical and subtle energy channels that reach the heart chakra. By chanting or listening to  a mantra 108 times the energy from the mantra permeates both the physical and energetic body. The 109th bead, also called the ‘guru’ bead, signifies the beginning and end of your meditation practice.

Although they are referred to as 108 mala beads, each Mama Mala actually contains 108 Sandalwood or Rudraksha beads plus a gemstone guru stone and gemstone markers that divide the mala into two sections of 27 and one of 54 to allow for a shorter, but still balanced, meditation.

Why are your malas made with sandalwood and rudraksha?

Sandalwood has been used to make mala and prayer beads for hundreds of years due to it’s calming and soothing properties. We love it because of its distinctive scent that instantly calms your mind and brings you into a meditative state. Rudraksha beads are the dried and drilled seeds of the Rudraksha Tree. We love that a tree is contained within each tiny seed, representing unlimited growth, possibilities and an open heart.

How do I choose the right set of mala beads for me?

The best advice we can give for choosing the perfect Mama Mala for you is to go with your initial gut instinct. Oftentimes your heart knows what you need before your brain catches up, so even if the intention doesn’t make logical sense, if you are drawn to a particular mala it’s for a reason.

Go a little more in-depth about finding your perfect mala here. Or take a peek here to see which one calls to your heart.

Should I meditate with my Mama Malas?

Absolutely! While mala beads are beautiful accessories on their own we highly recommend giving mala meditation a try because we believe that meditation is the best way to stay present, intentional and calm during the ups and downs of motherhood. We have also found that mala beads offer the perfect distraction from the “monkey mind” that can make starting a meditation practice intimidating or challenging.

How do I meditate with mala beads?

To meditate with your Mama Malas, begin by setting an intention for what you want to cultivate in your life.  Starting with the first sandalwood or rudraksha bead to the right of your guru bead, repeat your chosen mantra once for each sandalwood or rudraksha bead on your mala until you come back around to your guru bead.  End the meditation at the guru bead by giving thanks to the teachers that have helped you along your path, and setting or reaffirming your intentions. You can also hold your mala during a silent meditation and let it absorb the peace of the practice.

I've heard about mala breakthroughs, what are they?

A mala breaking is considered a sign of karmic progression and is something to be fully celebrated. Gemstones have a way of releasing you when they are no longer useful, and a broken mala can symbolise lessons learned and new beginnings. It has done its work. After having a mala breakthrough it is recommended to sit and meditate on the original description and intentions of the mala and process any breakthroughs or progression. Learn more about mala breakthroughs here.

How do I cleanse my mala beads?

Because gemstones absorb and emit energy, it is important to cleanse them if they feel heavy or "off". How often you cleanse your mala will depend on how often you wear them, and the situations you encounter.

If you encounter a lot of negative energy, many people touch or wear your mala, or you deal with a lot of stress, it is a good idea to cleanse your mala. Think of cleansing your mala as hitting the reset button on the healing properties of your stones. You can cleanse your mala with moonlight, or by burning white sage, palo santo or sweet grass.

To cleanse your mala by moonlight  leave place them outside or in a windowsill to absorb the cleansing energy of the moon (full moons work best for recharging crystals).

To cleanse with sage or palo santo place your sage or palo santo onto a fireproof plate and light it. Blow gently on the flame to allow it to smoulder. Take your hand and waft the smoke around your mala beads with the intention of clearing any negative energy.

No matter which way you choose to cleanse your malas be sure to take the time to sit with them and set your intentions after cleansing.

Pretty sweet right? Mama Malas also carry bracelets, and I am in LOVE with mine! The bottom bracelet you see pictured was a free gift with my purchase, made of Howlite and Rose Quartz beads... called the "I am CALM" gemstone intention bracelet. The one on top, (closest to the blackberries) is the Manifesting Mama bracelet. This is made with the same beads in my Male necklace, minus the Sandalwood. it is Made of Quartz, Labradorite, and Mother of Pearl.

"Clear Quartz is the ultimate manifesting stone, storing the energy of your intentions and amplifying them out into the universe. Labradorite and Mother of Pearl assist you in moving forward without fear of insecurity, and heighten your intuition so you are able to see the signs along the way that will move you closer to your dreams."

You can probably see why I am so obsessed with and pleased with my purchase from Mama Malas. I grabbed the pieces I was most drawn to and the have brought so much more positivity into my life! Coupling my meditations with these Malas and my essential oils is my favorite thing ever!

My Personal Development Routine

Personal Development, Self Care, Mental Growth... whatever you want to call it, it is vital to growing as a person, and as a business owner. I'm going to share with you a little bit more about my morning routine, how I fit my personal development into it, and what I do. Be mindful that not every day looks exactly the same, and sometimes I do rise a little later when my body needs extra rest.

The first thing I do when my eyes are opening in the morning is say a little prayer of gratitude. I am so grateful that I get to open my eyes again, so I make a point to express that gratitude. Next I grab my phone. No... not to go on social media, but to listen to my affirmations. If you want to read more about that, you can dive deeper into my post about Letting go of Negativity. Sometimes I don't even leave the bed while I'm listening to my affirmations. My husband is usually still sound asleep next to me. This is when I put Balance on my feet, to start off my day feeling grounded. (I will share more about Balance below.) When I feel like I'm ready to move on to my next activity, I get up quietly and go into our Living Room.

Here I sit down and have my quiet time alone. Sometimes I am doing a personal development workbook, sometimes it's a spiritual or bible study, and sometimes it is reading an inspirational "Self-help" book. You gotta do what works for you. Regardless, I make a point to spend this time in the quiet so that I can really focus on the content. This is also the time when I do a short yoga flow, or workout routine, meditation, crystal time, or deep breathing. From here, I also put on the first oil that comes to mind, and read about it's emotional and wellness benefits. It's so fun to see what oil I am in need of that day.

All of these things fill up my cup, and allow me to be the best version of myself for my family, and for my oil community. More often than not, this is how I get inspired with new ideas, or courses to take so that I can provide even better content overall. I don't spend money on courses that I don't feel will benefit me or my community. There are some that I want to take, but don't feel like the timing is right to jump into yet. All the same, I do feel that getting training outside of our oil community can be wildly helpful for personal development. This isn't to say that this is all you need to do to grow your business, it is only a small piece of that puzzle. You can spend all the time in the world on personal development, which is awesome, but the growth in your business comes from application and of course, working with people!

Throughout my week, I have designated time for me to finish any courses I'm taking. This can be anything from a certification course, sales training, business webinar, or a specific book. I carve out time for it, so that I am being intentional about my personal development. It is so easy for me to pour myself into my business, and into my family, that I have had to learn I need to pour myself into ME as well!

I feel like I could go on and on about what books are awesome, or which courses I think rock, but ultimately, you need to do what you feel guided to do. After all, this is your business, and nobody knows you better than YOU! If you do want to see the courses I'm rocking, you can check them out at the bottom of my Biz Tips page. That being said, here is a little blurb about Balance and Whisper. You will see why I'm sharing about Whisper below.

Balance: Grounding Blend

doTERRA’s grounding blend, appropriately named doTERRA Balance, promotes tranquility while bringing harmony to the mind and body, and balance to the emotions.

  • Promotes a whole-body sense of relaxation
  • May help ease anxious feelings
  • Evokes feelings of tranquility and balance

Whisper: Women's Blend

With an aroma as soft and warm as its name, doTERRA Whisper Blend for Women creates a uniquely personal fragrance by combining each individual’s chemistry with a diverse blend of essential oils.

  • Combines with each individual’s chemistry to create a beautiful, unique, and personal fragrance
  • Provides a warming, musky aroma
  • Entices and intrigues the senses

The reason I'm sharing about Whisper, is because I use it in the evening while I listen to my Affirmations (yes, again!) and it really brings me to a space of gratitude. In the evening, I may spend some more time reading, or not, it all depends on how I feel. Sometimes I will do an evening meditation, if I feel like I need it, or EFT if I'm holding onto things that aren't serving me. I also have a diffuser on my nightstand, so I will just intuitively diffuse whatever I feel drawn to that evening.

That's it! I try to keep things simple with my routines, otherwise I will get very meticulous about them, and then that makes me anxious! Hopefully you have found some little clusters of value in this, and find a way to cultivate your own personal development routine!

Please let me know if you found this valuable!

Letting go of Negativity

No matter where we are in life, letting go of negativity can only improve our current situations. Today I am sharing the different methods and oils I use to help let go, and release negativity in my own life. Some of it may be right up your alley, and some may make you roll your pretty eyes. Take what works for you, and leave what doesn't!

In the past I have struggled with letting negative feelings and emotions get a hold of me and drag me down. Pulling myself out of the "Eeyore zone" didn't happen over night, but I'm definitely a much more pleasant person to be around these days. Like attracts like, and so, if your attitude is crappy, you will draw and bring more of that about in your life. Not fun! It works the same way with positive things though, and this is why shifting your mindset, and letting go of negativity is SO key to improving your overall health and well-being.

One of the reasons I procrastinated so long in recording my own affirmations was the weird awkwardness that came with it. I tried saving them as voice memos, but then when I listened to them, it felt silly, and off-putting. There's nothing like listening to your voice say affirmations without any sort of relaxing background noise. So of course, I tried to get creative and throw something together on my computer. This works, but it is certainly more work than necessary to listen to affirmations. That is where the ThinkUp app really makes a difference!

Take a look at this quick 2 minute video to learn how this app is cultivating more positivity in the world through affirmations!

One of the things I love most about using the ThinkUp App is how customizable it is. I paid for the premium version, and so I can record as many affirmations as I can think of! It's great too, because you can categorize your affirmations via hashtag, and focus on a specific mindset shift you need to make, or as I like to think of it... reprogramming your brain to positive!

There are variety of subscription levels for ThinkUp, (including free!) and so many wonderful benefits!

  • The free version – allows picking only 4 affirmations and a default music. Really only gives a taste of what ThinkUp can do
  • Subscription – opens up the platform for a full-featured month: all affirmations and any music you wish to use $3.99
  • For one year with one time payment – $9.99
  • For Life with one time payment – $14.99

Shedding your negativity will be so much easier when you utilize this app on a regular basis. I listen to my affirmations at least twice a day, once first thing in the morning before I have my quiet time, and once in the evening before I fall asleep.

Essential Oils that help you Let go of Negativity

It's no secret that Essential Oils have an effect on your mood, disposition, and emotions. Essential oils are able to quickly absorb into the body, and it's bloodstream, to support the body on a cellular level. You are created to function as a whole. The spirit, mind, and body are inseparably connected, communicating at a cellular level. Your body is made of intelligent cells, wired to restore health. In addition to that, emotions are information-carrying molecules that bind to and react with cell receptors. They go into the cell, impacting function and behavior. For this reason, I'm so grateful to be able to utilize them while I'm meditating and listening to my affirmations.

  • Purify Essential Oil Blend: Very supportive to releasing toxic and negative emotions, by assisting the body in entering in a cleansing state. As the name suggests, it helps to purify the body.
  • Melaleuca Essential Oil: Is also very helpful in releasing and clearing out negative energetic baggage. This oil can help you set healthy energetic boundaries, and honor your personal space.
  • Serenity Essential Oil Blend: Powerful on the mind and heart. Wonderful to use when you are looking to reconnect with yourself, and discover your inner peace.
  • On Guard Essential Oil Blend: Can help you feel more protected, capable, set healthy boundaries, independence, and reinforce your inner strength. It also helps you to cut off unhealthy relationships you may be hanging on to.
  • Whisper Essential Oil Blend: Brings wonderful support for balancing the sacral chakra, located slightly below the navel. This chakra center, when balanced, helps you to be more generous and giving, nurturing to oneself and create healthy boundaries.

Smudge it Out

Maybe it's a little woo-woo for you, but I know many of you have Smudged your living spaces with Sage before. My friends at Mama Malas share all about Sage on their website:

"California White Sage cleanses and purifies your environment, and calms the mind and body at the beginning of a meditation or yoga session. Burn it at every meditation or yoga session to instantly bring your mind into a state of relaxation and signal the beginning and end of your practice. Use it to cleanse your Mama Malas and Gemstone Mala Bracelets, and remove negative or stale energies from your environment."

You can also use Sage to cleanse your crystals, your body, and your mind, as it helps to release negative thoughts and energies. I like to Sage my home first thing in the morning, sometimes followed by a burning of Palo-Santo. The beauty of smudging your space is that you can do it whenever it suits you. If you aren't ready to try it out just yet, you can always go super basic and open up all the windows in your home for an hour or more, to let in fresh air and fresh energy.

At the end of the day, I'd encourage you to shoot for the moon and try everything. See what really resonates with you, and move forward with that. You are doing yourself a huge favor by letting go of negativity. You deserve to live a life full of joy and positive vibes... and that starts today!

Essential Oils and Crystals

Alright peeps, I'm busting out the woo-woo and chatting about another beautiful aspect of my life, Crystals. I grew up a crystal lover and have some fun and exciting stories to share with you in this post! If you have read a little bit about me, you'd know that I've been using essential oils since I was born, as my mother is very natural minded. My mama also exposed me to the world of crystals, and I am so so glad that she did.

I have been working with crystals since I was a child, and it's so amazing to see how they have impacted my life in such a powerful way. My spiritual journey, has been touched so deeply by crystals and essential oils. I have so much gratitude for my mother, introducing me to the holistic world as soon as I arrived earthside!

I wanted to share some old photos with you today, so you can see some of the rad hippie-dippie things I did when I was a child.

Playing at Lake Mead, AZ . I loved collecting rocks for my Castles!

Horse Riding, Connecting with Nature in all my glory.

Petrified Forest National Park, AZ. Sitting on top of a Crystal Tree!

I'm still looking for some photos of my earlier trips to Quartzite, AZ from my childhood. I have fond memories of going yearly with my family to look at crystals, and being able to choose some for myself that were special to me. One of my favorite trips, I think I was around 7 or 8 years old, we actually camped out at this hillside, and were able to dig for and pick up crystals off the ground! It was so much fun! After we found ones that we liked, I remember my mom, and grandma and I cleaned them up, and created pretty little scenes with Pewter sculptures. I still have one of them that we made with an Amethyst crystal, but the crystal was purchased and not harvested by us personally.

A few years ago, in 2012 to be exact, my family and I took a trip back to Quartzite. It was so awesome! My son has been naturally drawn to crystals every since he could grab them, and we certainly had a great time enjoying all the beautiful energy that Quartzite had to offer. I will be honest, it was overwhelming for me for most of the visit, as I'm extremely sensitive to these energies! However, we did leave with a few lovely pieces, and memories of course!

Crystals are part of our history, and have so much to offer. They aren't some new-age fad (although I do feel it's making quite the resurgence right now!). There are over 4,600 different types of stones, matrices, configurations, vibrations, and applications. I'm not going to dive into all 4,600, but I will share a few that I feel are incredibly supportive, especially when combined with essential oils.

If you're not 100% sold on Crystals holding, sustaining, or containing energy, let's spend time on a little sciencey stuff!

Piezoelectricity /piˌeɪzoʊˌilɛkˈtrɪsɪti/ is the electric charge that accumulates in certain solid materials (such as crystals, certain ceramics, and biological matter such as bone, DNA and various proteins)[1] in response to applied mechanical stress. (Wikipedia)

Did you know that crystals are included in computer circuiting, watches, and other devices for this reason? Everything is made up of energy. Essential oils, Crystals, plants, fruit, even you! I wanted to share a bit more about this, and I found that the best way is to share a quote from "The Secret". It helps explain energy from both a scientific and a spiritual standpoint. No matter what your perspective, it is super simple to understand.

Rainbow Aura

From The Secret

Speaker: “Describe energy.”

Scientist: “Okay, it can never be created or destroyed; it always was; always has been; everything that ever existed always exists; it’s moving into form, through form, and out of form.”

Speaker: “What created the universe?”

Speaker: “Okay, describe God.”

Theologian: “Always was and always has been; never can be created or destroyed; all that ever was, always will be, always moving into form, through form, and out of form.”

Speaker: “You see, it’s the same description, just different terminology.”

You are eternal life; you’re source energy; you are God manifested in human form, made to perfection.

Scripturally, we could say we that we are the image and likeness of God; we could say we are another way that the universe is becoming conscious of itself; we could say that we are the infinite field of unfolding possibility; all of that would be true.

Crystals actually help to channel, focus and harness energy, when you are using them. Together with essential oils, you can feel and see incredible energetic results. As a Certified Crystal Reader, I'm so grateful to help support the body with crystals, in addition to Essential Oils. They complement each other so well!

Below we will look at the main Chakras or energy centers of the body, and which oils and crystals you can use together to support that energy center. Add oils and crystals of choice to a Roller Bottle with fractionated coconut oil, or apply oils to energy center, and hold selected crystal(s) while meditating. The essential oils can also be diffused while you do this. Use your intuition and let you body guide you in this process.
